Remember, Remember…
Houlton was the proud sponsor of Rugby’s annual fireworks display, which took place on Saturday 5th November at Whinfield Park. The event was hosted by the Rugby Round Table and saw in excess of 6,000 locals witness an amazing spectacle.
This year’s display carried the theme “Remember Remember”, which paid homage to Remembrance Day and the marking of the 100th anniversary of the battle of the Somme.
Houlton has its own significant date coming up. January 7th 2017 will be the 90th anniversary of Rugby Radio Station’s first transatlantic voice transmission to Houlton, in the state of Maine, USA.
Johanne Thomas, responsible for Communities and Partnerships for developers Urban&Civic said, “Sponsoring initiatives like this helps us to bring the story of Houlton to the people of Rugby. Its scale when complete will change the face of the east of the town and we want to bring everyone with us on this journey.
“That’s why we have already supported the fantastic Rugby World Cup festival last year, the victorious Rugby in Bloom campaign this year and the Pride of Rugby awards. We will continue to support the town as the development progresses.”
