Houlton steps into Christmas with calendar of festive fun
Rugby’s newest neighbourhood, Houlton, is stepping into Christmas in style with a packed calendar of festive fun this December.
The development will kick off the celebrations at its annual Christmas Fayre, organised by Friends and Families of St Gabriel’s CofE Academy, showcasing a host of local produce and unique gifts perfect for a special someone.
Taking place on Saturday 1 December at the community’s new primary school, guests will also be able to make their own handmade gifts at Christmas craft workshops, and indulge in some seasonal treats, including mulled wine, mince pies and more.
Festive fun and games will be on offer to entertain the little ones, and Santa Claus himself will also be stopping by to meet and greet children.
The day will also mark the unveiling of the first window of Houlton’s community advent calendar, which will see the development sparkle as a resident’s home or community building is lit up every day to mark the countdown to Christmas.
The magic continues into the month, as Santa Claus will be taking more time out of his busy schedule to meet and hand out gifts to the children living at Houlton on Tuesday 11 and Saturday 15 December, while they tuck into breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea. Rugby residents will also be given a chance to win limited spaces to the sessions by visiting Houlton’s Facebook page.
That’s not all, as the whole community will come together for Christmas carol singing on Sunday 23 December, with a live band and festive stories from 4pm.
Johanne Thomas, Communications, Communities and Partnerships for Urban&Civic, said: “We are delighted to host a calendar of exciting Christmas events at Houlton this year. We are dedicated to offering a variety of activities throughout the year to bring the wider community together, especially at Christmas.
“We have a wide range of festivities lined up for residents and visitors alike this year, from the Christmas Fayre on Saturday and the community advent calendar, to breakfast with Santa and carol singing later this month.
“We’re very much looking forward to welcoming friends and families along this season, and would like to invite the people of Rugby to join us for a packed month of Christmas magic at Houlton, celebrating in true community style,” she added.
