New primary school at Houlton opens its doors for information days
First chance to visit St Gabriel’s ahead of September 2018 intake
Local parents will be able to take a first look round Rugby’s newest school this week, as the primary school at Houlton holds a series of information days.
Open days will take place across October and November as St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy prepares to open its doors to local children in September 2018.
The information events will be held in the newly-completed school buildings, providing prospective parents and children with the chance to see inside St. Gabriel’s for the very first time. Families will also be able to meet headteacher Andrew Taylor and air their questions as part of the consultation process.
The first information days will take place on Tuesday 10th and Saturday 14th October. The coming months will also see the school offer headteacher drop in meetings and further open consultation events.
St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy, a primary school for children aged 4-11, will serve the community of Houlton, as well as neighbouring villages and the town of Rugby. It will offer 30 places for reception children in September 2018, with additional places for older children based on demand.
Part of the Houlton Church of England Multi Academy Trust, St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy aims to provide an inclusive and high-quality education, and an outstanding community facility for local children and families.
Andrew Taylor, Head Teacher at St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy, said: “We’re very pleased to be opening our doors and showcasing the school’s fantastic facilities, ready for our first intake in September 2018.
“These open days are a great opportunity for families to meet us, gain a sense of the environment we will provide for our pupils and hear about our passion for providing an outstanding education for every child.”
“We look forward to welcoming parents and children to St. Gabriel’s in the coming months.”
Richard Coppell, Development Director for Urban&Civic, comments: “We have created Houlton as a place with excellent connections, outdoor spaces, stand-out facilities and a sense of community – and high quality education is central to this.
“The opening of St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy marks a pivotal point in our project. These open days will be a great opportunity to come along and learn more about the education and experiences the school will offer residents right on their doorstep.
“We’re proud to see another element of the new neighbourhood complete, and we look forward to St. Gabriel’s C of E Academy delivering excellent education here with its professional, dynamic and passionate staff.”
Canon Linda Wainscot- Director of Education for the Diocese of Coventry adds: "This is a wonderful opportunity and privilege to add to our family of 74 Church of England schools across Coventry, Solihull & Warwickshire. Church of England schools welcome children of all faiths and no faith, and focus on working with families to ensure that everyone fulfils their human potential.
“We look forward to playing a significant role in the development of community at Houlton."
