An outdoor exhibition has been unveiled at Rugby’s newest neighbourhood, Houlton, showcasing the stunning photography and art of talented Rugbians.
The impressive displays have been installed along the growing development’s extensive nature trails and features 20 rustic frames which will host a wide range of local artwork throughout the year.
Its first exhibition, which will be on display until summer this year, showcases images snapped by budding local photographers and members of the community throughout lockdown last year.
The beautiful photography, which was captured as part of a competition led by Houlton’s master developer Urban&Civic, shines a spotlight on the varied and vibrant world of wildlife at Houlton.
A permanent fixture at the new neighbourhood, the installation comes as part of Urban&Civic’s drive to engage with local artists, with plans to showcase a variety of professional and amateur work in the future.
As part of the development’s dedication to supporting the arts in the area, Houlton is also on the hunt for a Rugby-based artist to create an illustration or painting of the growing community in their own signature style.
Galina Bardarska, Urban&Civic at Houlton, said: “We are delighted to unveil Houlton’s outdoor art exhibition, an installation which we hope will bring great joy to our residents as well as showcasing local talent from around Rugby.
“We’re passionate about supporting the arts in the area, and our new addition to Houlton will enable us to shine a spotlight on Rugby’s talented individuals, as well as to hold more initiatives like our photography competition in the future.
“The first installation showcases just a handful of the fantastic entries capturing the wonderful wildlife that we received during the summer. It is lovely to see so much talent right here on our doorstep, but it is also heartening to see how exploring Houlton’s space has helped our residents through the challenging times of lockdown.”
